Our Executive Search Process

Our search process is complete end-to-end solution. Each stage has major milestones which are agreed to with our clients at the beginning of the search process. It is comprised of four major elements:

Phase 1 - Identify the Needs of the Business

Define the Business Challenge

We understand that executive search assignments are all about solving business problems. With a two-way sharing of information, we begin the process by identifying the unique priorities, challenges, and opportunities that characterize your company’s search assignment.

360° Online Survey

We utilize an online tool as an outline to further our discussions. This tool is not a personality assessment ... it is a set of questions that we have asked out clients for the past 15 years in order to get a clear picture of the assignment.

Needs Assessment - Stakeholder Meetings

We're tactful diplomats who know how to constructively solicit input from stakeholders and constituents, deal with strong concerns and objections, and ultimately build consensus, so that all parties are on the same page.

Finalize the Hiring Plan

The Hiring Plan is a document that profiles the position. It describes in appropriate detail the personality, attributes, qualifications of the best candidate for our client's current situation. It also outlines the goals for the new hire. The Hiring Plan will be signed off by the key stakeholders, as this helps to build consensus.

Phase 2 - Develop the Short List

Custom Research

We conduct targeted research to find the best candidates, as well as specifically contacting executives who hold similar positions at competitive organizations.

Candidate Pre-Screening

The initial pool of potential candidate resumes is discussed with the client. This ensures that we're on the right track of matching interested candidates to the profile in the Hiring Plan.

Initial Interviewing

We conduct in-depth phone screens with potential candidates to determine the strongest matches in terms of style and experience.

Phase 3 - Qualify the Final Candidates

Review Candidate Short List with Client

Following comprehensive telephone interviews, we select the most qualified professionals and review their resumes with our client. The client, with our guidance, will determine the best candidates to continue in the process

Conduct In-Person Interviews

We conduct one-on-one interviews with the candidates selected to advance. While these interviews are being conducted, we continue our candidate identification process, until we are confident we have a solid slate of candidates who 'fit' your position and organization.

Interviewing Best Practices

Since we have been interviewing candidates for nearly 25 years, we have focused on doing great work and for us that means being great interviewers. We will make sure that we pass as much of that knowledge to you and your staff as possible. This information and these techniques will serve you well for years to come.

Phase 4 - Complete the Hiring Process

Present Finalist Candidates Profiles

Final candidates are presented to the client for first round company/client interviews. In preparation, we provide additional information on each candidate's qualifications. This includes our assessment of knowledge, skills, leadership ability, personality and interpersonal style.

Execute Client Interview Process

We prepare our clients with all the information necessary to ensure a smooth interview process including facilitating the scheduling, defining roles, and designing interview tools if appropriate. Most of our clients conduct two rounds of interviews.

Select Final Candidate

Once our client selects the preferred candidate, we will step in to assist with the negotiation of the compensation package and other specifics to assure a successful transition.
